Who are WatchDOGS? Fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and other father figures who volunteer to serve at least one day a year in a variety of school activities as assigned by the school principal or other administrator.

 1) To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.

2) To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.

Typical Day

During the day, WatchDOGS may read and work on flash cards with students, play at recess, eat lunch with students, patrol the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well.

How It Works

Step 1 - Submit a Volunteer Application

New and returning volunteers must submit an application each school year in order to volunteer on a Tyler ISD campus. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and have either a valid Texas Driver's License or Department of Public Safety Identification Card.
